Fall is our busiest aeration season: the ideal window runs through mid-September in Palmer/Mat-Su, with a hard cutoff around the last week of September. After that, the ground stops taking seed and overseed won't establish before freeze-up. Spring aeration works too, once the ground has fully thawed (typically mid-to-late May in the Valley). Fall just gives overseed more of the growing season to fill in before winter.

When's the best time to aerate in the Mat-Su Valley?
